Exercises for Anxiety and Panic Attacks

When over a decade ago I suffered from extreme anxiety and panic attacks, these were the exercises that helped me most: deep, slow abdominal breathing, other relaxation exercises, gentle yoga, awareness training and concentration exercises.

Practicing these exercises on a daily basis, and with guidance from my yoga teacher, they helped me to fully recover and to enjoy life again.

I still practice them daily and especially in situations which provoke anxiety in me, like heavy turbulence in the air or job interviews. They keep proofing to be valuable.

Along with the exercises, I made changes in my lifestyle choices: limiting (work/relational) stress, getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, and especially finding support from my family, friends and healthcare professionals in the recovery process.
